A Brief History
In 1999 FounderDean R Spinato announced the creation of Islandwide High School Roller Hockey (IHSRH). With the idea of having the High Schools compete against each other for the Long Island Championship. The league started out with 8 varsity teams in the first season with over 100 players particapating in one division. By the year 2001 the league doubled its size, having two divisions and over 250 players. With this in mind Dean realized that statistics showed that the fastest growing sport in the United States today is In-Line Roller Hockey.Year 2002 was an explosive year having not only two divisons but a Junior Varsity level as well as a Varsity. The league has grown to the stage where everyone can now see the talent of our roller hockey players Islandwide. Islandwide has done so well that the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (ECRHA), recognized our league and would announce that they would be apart of our league. The coaches and players would come from the ECRHA and scout players and try to recriut them for theircolleges. Quote from President Rebecca Breitel "this is one of the best High School leagues around. The talent that comes out of this league is tremendous. The year 2004 is history with over 35 teams and 450 players in the league, IHSRH has done it's job. We help get the players into colleges and having scholorship Funds for several students. Not only does the league get recognized by other high school leagues around the United States but USA hockey has invited our directors to meetings in Colorado for more information on how to help the sport grow to its highest potential. After
the year 2006 IHSRH Change its name to Islandwide Roller Hockey to grow
our organization. Islandwide now has a Jr Freshman league grades 4-6
as well as hockey clinics for ages 8-16
